Dear Members of the Film & Television Production Industry:
As you may know, our last ACTRA Awards Gala was planned for October 3, 2020 but had to be postponed due to the pandemic. However, the Awards were presented virtually on May 15, 2021. Seven actors – Kristen Sawatzky, Nancy Sorel, Aaron Merke, Dave Brown, Stephanie Sy, Lisa Bell and Paul Essiembre – received awards for their “Most Outstanding Performances”. Eagle Vision received the ACTRA Manitoba Award for Burden of Truth and On Screen Manitoba received the Wayne Nicklas Award for its outstanding contribution to the industry.
Our next Awards Gala is on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. Nominated performances will be coming from productions released or first screened in 2020 or 2021. We are looking forward to significant submissions due to the record number of productions during this time period.
OPEN FOR SUBMISSIONS.
Please give some thought to the best performances of your cast (ACTRA Manitoba Members) in a short production, movie or TV episode released or screened for the first time in 2020 or 2021.
ACTRA Members and Industry officials (producers, directors, broadcasters and distributors) may submit up to three (3) PRINCIPAL performances in any category per production, free of charge. Submissions must be sent using the attached form. The performer needs to be contracted in the production as a Principal or upgraded to Principal.
An eligible performance is one within a production released in the eligible time frame by a Member of ACTRA Manitoba in good-standing at the time of submission and in good-standing at the time of production. Performances may also be submitted by Manitoba Members who were in productions produced in other jurisdictions and released in the qualifying time period.
ACTRA Manitoba reserves the right to modify the nature and quantity of Awards after the submission deadline passes.
Also new, due to the pandemic, performances in recorded theatre productions presented digitally under ACTRA contracts may be submitted. These productions must be available to view as recorded video and screened for the first time in 2020 or 2021.
ACTRA Manitoba will accept submissions until June 5, 2022. An independent Jury will screen submissions and nominate up to seven performances in each category. A second Jury will then select the winning performances.
Please review the lists of Manitoba productions released in 2020 and 2021. If you know of a production not on this list, but should be, please call or email the office: manitoba@actra.ca. We appreciate your input.
Sincerely,
Rob Macklin
